  12. 1; My idea of the American Dream is simple- happiness. Happiness sounds easy, but it's not just temporary. Even when something horrible happens to you, you're upset but you know you can move on. To have true happiness would be the perfect life.
2; Some people immigrate from other countries to America for several reasons. Some people are looking for a new oppurtunity and a new life, while others are trying to escape war, religious persecution, or social injustice.
3; I don't really remember how I felt when I went to America, but I remember that I wasn't very bewildered. As a young child, I was naive, so I was very curious to explore around me. I was also very excited.

  22. 1. In your own words, define 'The American Dream?'
The American Dream is to make money and have a better life, or at least get the OPPURTUNITY to get one.
    2. Why do people from other countries immigrate to America?
Many come to escape poverty and/or persecution. Some come here just to get a better job and achieve their goals in life when they could not do just that in their homeland. Others make a life and income to set up a home for their awaiting family back home.
    3. How did you feel when you came to America? Give details. (Respond if you are an immigrant)
I'm an IMMIGRANT. When I came to America I was confused with various emotions. I was happy because I left the tiresome girls that acted as though they were soooo awesome! They were vain yet LAZY. They must have fallen not that far from the apple tree because they weren't the one going to another country! I was also happy because I would finally meet my father who had made way for us in America. Anyway, I was also sad because I left behind the laziness of the heated days and the many islands we could visit in the summer vacations. I knew that it was a long time before we could visit the Philippines again because there wasn't a lot of money for all 6 of us to travel. I was sad because I left behind my ONLY friend without saying goodbye to him. I didn't know that we were leaving until the middle of our summer vacation, so I didn't get a chance. Anyway, I was angry for the short notice. I was also fuming at my bristers because I'm the oldest and I had to take care of them with my mother on the boat and plane ride. They were groggy and whiny when they experienced the jet lag and time difference as we moved backward in timezones. When we finally got to the JFK airport, we got our bags and went trhrough an expection of passports and metal detectors. Then we waited anxiously for our father, our only familiar beacon in this foreign place . When we finally saw him we went crazy waving our hands and shouting at him like wilderness survivers . He found us through the thick fog of people and treated us to flashes of his cheap, disposable, Kodak camera and bittersweet strawberries. Well there's mopre to it but I'll end it here. Maybe I'll write more about it somewhere else. THE END
